02 Jul Time for an Interior Refresh?
It’s time to revive your interior without expensive shipyard bills or astronomical design costs. Wild Group handle your project from design concept to inception, including photoshop renderings and bring these concepts to life with vinyl films achieving brilliant results in times which make a mockery of conventional refit periods. Vinyl films are perfectly adapted to interior use because:
- They go straight over the current finish without the need for surface preparation.
- They are reversible, allowing you to refresh, experiment and change your yacht interior regularly.
- They are hard-wearing and guaranteed for years.
- The width of the film will usually be larger than the panel to be covered – so no seams!
- They can be spray lacquered or coated for additional protection or to achieve high gloss or satin finishes indistinguishable from those of real wood.

– Ceiling Panels
Deckheads… Why is anyone spraying these anymore??? There are so many reasons why wrap is better here. The satin on wrap is more even and consistent a finish than that of paint as the colour pigment is added to the material and mixed through as opposed to being sprayed on. There is no drying time so the labour time is massively reduced and this makes the whole process cheaper. A panel can be refinished in 30 minutes.
This is not limited to outdoor panels. Why not consider leather type finishes or abstract patterns for effects which simply cannot be achieved with in any other material?
So just to recap: faster, better, cheaper. PLEASE STOP SPRAYING DECKHEAD PANELS
– Wall Panels
Panelling is all very beautiful to start off with but after 10 years the beauty becomes a burden. It’s part of the structure of the boat and replacing it can mean many man hours for carpenters, joiners and anyone else involved. Re-lacquering it can mean ventilating and closing down the entire boat for weeks whilst it is painstakingly sanded back and re-prepped. All this can be avoided and the entire interior can be given a new aesthetic. Leave the panels there, exactly as they are and call Wild Group to wrap over them.
So often we are asked to match a wood finish in a bridge to a vinyl. We feel that the only reason people ask this is because they are so used to being quoted exorbitant numbers that they don’t realise what could be achieved in such a short space of time for a nominal amount. There honestly is no need to match (although this is often easy given the vast range of wood effect available). The whole area can be brought up to date in days and the problem is rectified for years. These are PERMANENT solutions. Why put things off for next season when they can be done in days now?
Crew Areas are often very functional spaces where flair is frowned upon. Why not enhance the galley up with stone effect films? Or use these spaces to trial the material for use elsewhere? No need to settle for the mundane, beige panelling so often seen in these areas. For cheaper than re-spraying the area you could have, beach wood, granite, stucco, abstract, electric blue, beaten copper, gold leaf, carbon fibre, brushed aluminium, anthracite… need we go on?
– Unit Edges and Loose Furniture
We know the story. Here are some familiar scenarios:
April is upon us: no one around to re-varnish the table on the aft deck and it looks terrible. Wrap it.
The chrome around the elevator has gone dull and you won’t be in the yard until next year. There are chrome films. It can be shiny again. Wrap it.
The crew passageway is looking battered and the charter guests are concerned about the area where their food is being prepared. Wrap the passageway in 1 day.
The bar top is getting scratched and constantly having to re-polish it is a pain. Install a scratch resistant film that is self-healing, optically clear and makes the problem go away. Prevention is the best solution!
– Artwork/Textured material wraps
Kids eh. Demanding souls! If you’re asking why your charter guests are the kind that drink all the booze and damage everything why not appeal to different guests by creating a more family friendly atmosphere with murals which can be removed. Choose any artwork or image you like, print onto vinyl and transform functional spaces into something else entirely.
Print fish in the pool, a jungle waterfall in the crew shower cubicles, some crazy artwork for the sundeck for a guest party to crank that DJ set up a notch, pimp the engine room and make it look like the warp drive from the starship Entreprise, turn the tender bay into a beach club with palm trees and blue skies. Your imagination is the limit
Or why not call our design team who can work directly with the owner to create something completely unique to make your aft deck a thing of beauty and the envy of the marina!
